Ibom Air Targets ₦150 Billion Revenue in 2025

Ibom Air, the Akwa Ibom State-owned airline, aims to achieve a ₦150 billion revenue target in 2025, a significant increase from its ₦96 billion revenue in 2024.

Speaking at the Ibom Air Travel Agents Forum in Lagos on July 11, 2025, Chief Executive Officer George Uriesi outlined the airline’s ambitious plans to transform Nigeria’s aviation industry.

Uriesi revealed that 6% of the 2024 revenue came from travel agents across Nigeria, highlighting their critical role in the airline’s success. “We are about to expand all over Africa. Very soon, we will start operating our new terminal. We were very much involved in the design of the terminal. The terminal is built to support our strategy,” he said, emphasizing the airline’s plans to make its Uyo terminal a regional hub.

To enhance global visibility, Ibom Air will join the General Distribution System by the end of 2025, allowing travel agents worldwide to access its products. Uriesi also addressed operational challenges, noting that the airline has reserved an aircraft on the ground to manage flight disruptions and cancellations, though he acknowledged this arrangement is not profitable.

Efforts are underway to improve customer service, addressing issues like pricing, online discounts, ticket prices, paystack charges, and refunds.

The Ibom Air 2025 revenue target aligns with its expansion plans, including new routes to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; Douala, Cameroon; and Sao Tome and Principe from Uyo.

The forum, attended by members of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agents and the Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria, recognized top-performing travel agents with certificates for their contributions over the past six months.
