On July 12, 2025, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, participated in the Lagos LG poll by casting their votes at Polling Unit 006, Ward E, located at St. Stephens Nursery and Primary School, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island. The couple voted around 11:00 AM, joining thousands of Lagosians in electing chairmen and councillors across 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The Lagos LG poll at the Lagos Island polling unit began at 8:00 AM, with voters selecting candidates to lead the Lagos Island Local Government Area. Jubril Gawat, the governor’s media aide, also cast his vote at the same unit earlier in the day, demonstrating civic engagement during the election.
The Lagos LG poll, overseen by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), aims to strengthen grassroots governance through a transparent and inclusive process across the state’s 57 local councils.
