The group’s spokesperson, Yahya Saree, announced the strike in a recorded statement, describing it as support for Gaza.
Israel’s military confirmed via social media that the missile was intercepted mid-air.
Since the conflict in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, the Houthis have launched multiple attacks on Israel, including drones and missiles.
Most have been intercepted, often triggering Israeli retaliation on Houthi positions in Yemen.
The group has also targeted Red Sea and Gulf of Aden shipping routes, citing Israeli ties – actions that have drawn multiple US-led airstrikes in response.
