Osimhen Set for Permanent Galatasaray Move in €75M Deal
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is close to finalizing a permanent transfer to Galatasaray from Napoli for €75 million (£65 million), following a prolific loan spell in the 2024-25 season.
The Turkish champions will pay €40 million (£34 million) upfront, with €35 million (£30 million) due by 2026, and have agreed to a clause preventing Osimhen’s sale to any Serie A club before 2027, or face a penalty fee, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
Osimhen, 26, scored 37 goals in 41 appearances last season, helping Galatasaray secure the Turkish Super Lig title and Turkish Cup.
Despite interest from Al-Hilal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United, Osimhen prioritized a return to Istanbul, where he connected strongly with fans and teammates.
Negotiations faced hurdles, with Napoli initially demanding €50 million upfront and full financial guarantees, but Galatasaray’s letter of credit addressed these concerns.
The transfer ends a turbulent period with Napoli, where Osimhen’s relationship soured after their 2023 Serie A title win due to transfer speculation and his exclusion from Antonio Conte’s pre-season squad. Galatasaray’s deal, pending final bureaucratic details, positions Osimhen to continue his stellar form in Turkey, where he broke the record for most goals by a foreign player in a single season.
