Lionel Messi Scores Twice Again as Inter Miami Edge New England 2-1 in MLS Showdown

Lionel Messi continued his blistering form in Major League Soccer on Wednesday night, scoring twice in Inter Miami’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution.

The 38-year-old Argentine legend – Lionel Messi has now scored two goals in each of his last four MLS matches, becoming the first player in league history to achieve this feat. His run began in late May and has since made headlines across the globe.

Messi opened the scoring in the 27th minute at Gillette Stadium, capitalizing on a defensive error to fire in a composed left-footed strike. He doubled Miami’s lead just 11 minutes later after linking up with longtime teammate Sergio Busquets and curling home another precision shot past goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic.

Although New England managed to pull one back in the 79th minute through Carles Gil, the Herons held on to claim all three points. Goalkeeper Oscar Ustari also played a crucial role, making six important saves.

With this result, Inter Miami rise to fifth in the Eastern Conference standings, sitting just seven points behind league leaders FC Cincinnati with three games in hand.

Manager Javier Mascherano praised Messi’s impact and his telepathic connection with Busquets. “They have played together for years Busquets knew exactly when and where to put that ball,” he said.

Lionel Messi has now scored 14 goals in 15 MLS appearances, just two shy of top scorer Sam Surridge of Nashville. Inter Miami’s next fixture is a tough clash against that very Nashville side on Saturday.
