2027 Elections: Nigerian Youths Urge INEC to Ensure Transparent, Credible Voting Process
The National Youth Organisation (NYO) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to begin early preparations to guarantee transparent, credible, and inclusive results in 2027 Elections.
Speaking during a national press briefing, Comrade Okorie C. Okorie, the NYO president, urged INEC to launch fresh voter registration and approve new political parties that meet eligibility. According to him, this would give a fair platform so that in the 2027 Elections: Nigerian Youths and emerging parties will participate
On the political instability in Rivers State, Okorie commended the ongoing peace efforts but called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive steps to restore full democratic order.
He also issued a stern warning to political parties: “2027 is not business as usual. Parties must roll out youth-focused agendas or risk being rejected by young voters.”
The group disclosed plans to host a national roundtable with party leaders, warning that non-attendance would be seen as a disregard for the youth constituency.
NYO’s vice president for the South East Zone, Hon. Prince Fortune Chinonso, backed the call, stressing that Nigerian youths are now wiser and will no longer serve as pawns during elections.
With insecurity, voter apathy, and lack of inclusion dominating political discussions, NYO believes the 2027 elections: present a chance to reset Nigeria’s democracy, if all stakeholders act early and sincerely.
