Burna Boy Opens Up on His Conversion to Islam in Old Video, Sparks Reactions Online
Nigerian music star Burna Boy, whose real name is Ebunoluwa Damini Ogulu, has once again become a major topic online after an old video of him talking about Islam resurfaced.
The clip started trending during the Ramadan fasting period, shortly after fashion influencer Rahman Jago shared a video of Burna Boy speaking Arabic. This led many fans to believe that the singer had converted to Islam.
In the old video, Burna Boy spoke openly about his faith and how he prays as a Muslim. He explained that he converted to Islam after studying the religion and understanding it for himself.
According to him, once he prays and says “Ameen,” he strongly believes that Allah has already answered his prayer. He shared a personal example, saying that there was a time he wanted to buy a car. After praying about it, he believed in his heart that Allah had accepted the prayer, even before the car came.
His words touched many people, especially Muslim fans, who welcomed him warmly and described Islam as a religion of peace. Some encouraged him to keep growing in faith and to attend Jumu’ah prayers regularly.
However, not everyone reacted positively. A few critics questioned his statements and shared mixed opinions about the resurfaced video, leading to debates across social media.

Burna Boy is not the only Nigerian celebrity whose religious journey has sparked public attention over the years.
Actress Iyabo Ojo’s daughter, Priscilla Ojo, was once a Christian before marrying her Tanzanian Muslim husband. Since then, she has embraced Islamic practices on certain occasions and adopted a Muslim name.
Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe also converted to Islam after marrying movie marketer and businessman Kazim Adeoti.
