Legal dispute over child custody takes a new turn as allegations are raised against the singer

Sophia Momodu’s Lawyer Petitions Police, Accuses Davido of Cyberbullying and Intimidation

The ongoing custody battle between Nigerian music star Davido and his former partner Sophia Momodu has taken a fresh turn following a petition filed by her lawyer.

The lawyer, Ebelechukwu Enedah, has reportedly written a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police, accusing the singer of cyberbullying, harassment, and intimidation linked to the court case over their daughter, Imade.

Davido and Sophia Momodu have been locked in a legal dispute over custody of their first child. The case drew public attention after both parties appeared in court and exchanged strong legal arguments. The situation later became more tense when the singer withdrew the case following the mention of his late son, Ifeanyi, during proceedings.

After the court appearance, Davido made emotional posts on social media reacting to the mention of his late son. In one of the posts, he addressed Sophia Momodu’s lawyer directly, stating that he prayed she would never experience the kind of pain he and his wife had gone through.

Following the online reactions, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, the law firm where Enedah works, released a statement saying it would not tolerate online intimidation or harassment of its staff for carrying out professional duties. The firm also called on the Nigerian Bar Association to step in and prevent such incidents in the future.

In a new development, the lawyer’s petition alleged that Davido used phone calls, text messages, and social media posts to harass and intimidate her during and after the court proceedings. The document, dated February 16, 2026, also claimed that the singer acted aggressively toward her during cross-examination in court, leading to the adjournment of the hearing.

The petition further stated that after the adjournment, Enedah began receiving numerous calls and messages from third parties. It alleged that posts from verified social media accounts linked to Davido contributed to the attention and pressure directed at her.

The situation has continued to draw public reactions, especially after Sophia Momodu’s sister shared a video online criticising the singer and suggesting that legal action could also be taken against him outside Nigeria.

As of now, Davido has not publicly responded to the petition filed with the police.
