Nigerian Man Explains How He Applied for Canadian Visa Himself After Agent Demanded N2.5 Million
A Nigerian man has shared how he successfully applied for a study visa to Canada by himself after an agent demanded N2.5 million to handle the process.
The man narrated his experience in a video posted on TikTok under the handle @uncle_khayy. According to him, his journey began after he gained admission to study in Canada.
He explained that his father initially contacted an agent to help with the visa application, but the agent billed them N2.5 million, a fee he felt was far too high.
Because of the cost, he advised his father to allow him try handling the process personally. His father then gave him N800,000 so he could explore other options.
While visiting a visa processing centre, he noticed something that changed everything. According to him, the woman attending to him turned her computer screen toward him to confirm the spelling of his name. That was when he noticed that all the information was being filled on the official Canadian immigration website.
“I now saw this website, canada.ca. That was when I realised that everything she was doing was directly on the website,” he said.
After making the discovery, he explained that he found a way to quietly leave the office, returned home, and completed the visa application himself using the same website.
The man revealed that he submitted his application in July 2020 and received his passport request in October 2020, confirming the success of his self-handled process.
