Tinubu Praises NSA Ribadu in Adamawa Amid El-Rufai’s Allegations

President Bola Tinubu has publicly praised the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as committed and courageous in the discharge of his duties.

The President made the remarks on Monday during the unveiling of development projects in Adamawa State, Ribadu’s home state.

Commending the NSA’s efforts, Tinubu said the government was already seeing positive results from his leadership in the fight against insecurity.

“The National Security Adviser, the son of the soil, Nuhu Ribadu, I will say clearly here that you are doing an excellent job and we are seeing the results,” the President said.

“With you, we will defeat the bandits and terrorists,” he added.

Tinubu further described Ribadu as honest, bold, courageous, and fully committed to his responsibilities, noting that both he and the people of Adamawa were proud of the NSA’s service.

“I believe the state of Adamawa is strongly proud of you, because I am too,” the President stated.

The public endorsement comes amid recent allegations made by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai against Ribadu.

El-Rufai, who returned to Nigeria from Egypt last Thursday, alleged that he was subjected to an attempted arrest at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. He also raised concerns over an alleged plan to procure thallium sulphate from Poland, describing the substance as highly dangerous and tightly regulated.

In a letter addressed to the NSA on Sunday, El-Rufai requested clarification on several issues, including the purpose of the alleged importation, the identity of the supplier, the quantity involved, storage arrangements, and regulatory oversight by agencies such as NAFDAC and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

He stated that his request was made in good faith and argued that transparency on the matter would strengthen public trust in national institutions. Copies of the letter were reportedly sent to other relevant authorities.

However, reports indicate that the Office of the National Security Adviser has asked El-Rufai to submit any evidence relating to the alleged procurement to the Department of State Services for further investigation.
