Chubby Jos The Wanted Drug Lord IsLinked With Sierra Leone President’s Daughter
Opposition leaders in Sierra Leone have accused a Dutch cocaine trafficker, Jos Leijdekkers, widely known as Chubby Jos, of allegedly gaining protection in the country by fathering a child with Agnes Bio, the daughter of President Julius Maada Bio.
Leijdekkers, aged 34, has reportedly been on the run for more than two years while being wanted by authorities across Europe. He faces several convictions in the Netherlands and Belgium, with combined prison sentences said to total 74 years.
During a birthday celebration in March 2024, Leijdekkers was captured on video presenting a gift to Kanneh, sparking further questions about his closeness with high-ranking government figures.
Reports suggest he remained in Sierra Leone while his alleged child was born in New York. Around that time, President Bio was said to have visited his daughter and grandchild during the UN General Assembly in the United States.
Legal troubles and extradition issues
Leijdekkers has a €200,000 bounty placed on him and is facing more charges, including torture and murder. In September 2024, he was sentenced to eight years in Belgium, which added to a previous 50-year term from other European convictions. In addtion, the eumostwanted made a post about this wanted drug lord as at May 20, 2022.
In the Netherlands, he received a 24-year prison sentence for allegedly participating in six large-scale cocaine shipments. Dutch officials have since requested his extradition, but the case remains unresolved.
In response to the allegations, Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Communications said that President Bio had “no knowledge of the identity or the issues detailed” concerning Leijdekkers.
