Oyo Police Nab Two in Ibadan One-Chance Robbery Crackdown, Recover Vehicle

On July 12, 2025, the Oyo State Police Command dismantled a notorious one-chance robbery gang terrorizing Ibadan residents, arresting two key members: Kolawole Moshood, 42, from Olomoyeye Muslim Area, and Opeyemi Kuburat, 45, from Beyerunka Area.

The breakthrough followed a viral video exposing the gang’s activities, prompting Commissioner of Police Johnson Adenola to deploy tactical units for an intensive manhunt.

CSP Adewale Osifeso, the command’s spokesperson, stated: “Following the emergence of a viral video exposing the gang’s activities, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, tasked operatives of the Command’s Tactical Units to apprehend the culprits.

The teams promptly activated their informant networks and launched an intensive search for the gang members.

Their efforts paid off on July 12, 2025, when intelligence available to the Command Monitoring Unit revealed the whereabouts of suspected one-chance robbers. At around 3:30 p.m. that day, officers from the Unit tracked and located the suspects on the Old Ibadan/Oyo Road.”

During the operation, police recovered a Nissan Almera vehicle (registration: Lagos FST 779 DL) used in the crimes.

The suspects confessed to being core members of the syndicate, admitting to robbing and deceiving multiple victims.

Three victims have identified Moshood and Kuburat as perpetrators who stole their valuables in separate incidents. Osifeso added: “The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation. To date, three victims have come forward and positively identified them as the perpetrators who robbed them of their valuables on separate occasions.

The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other gang members and recover their weapons.

We therefore urge other victims of this notorious gang to come forward and assist with the investigation and subsequent prosecution.

Your cooperation can play a vital role in bringing more offenders to justice and protecting our communities.”

The Oyo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety, urging residents to report further incidents to aid the ongoing investigation.
