X CEO Linda Yaccarino Resigns as Elon Musk’s AI Takeover Reshapes Platform

Linda Yaccarino, the Chief Executive Officer of Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has officially resigned after two years at the helm.

She made the announcement on Wednesday via a post on X, without giving any specific reason for her departure. However, she hinted that the company was transitioning into “a new chapter,” following its recent acquisition by Musk’s artificial intelligence venture, xAI.

Linda Yaccarino, a former top advertising executive at NBC Universal, took over as CEO in June 2023, following Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter and brief stint as interim CEO.

During her tenure, she worked closely with Musk to steer the company through its controversial transformation  from Twitter to X with an ambitious goal to evolve into the “Everything App.”

In her farewell message, Linda Yaccarino reflected on her time leading the platform, praising the X team for their resilience and innovation, especially in areas like user safety and advertiser relations.

“We started with the critical early work necessary to prioritise the safety of our users, especially children, and to restore advertiser confidence.

“This team has worked relentlessly  from groundbreaking innovations like Community Notes and the upcoming X Money feature, to bringing the most iconic voices and content to the platform.”

She described X as “a digital town square for all voices” and expressed deep appreciation to users, business partners, and the internal team who helped push the platform forward.
